Neugal Hydroelectric Project

Neugal Hydroelectric Project has been contemplated as a run off the river scheme on Neugal Khad, a tributary of river Beas in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh, India.

Power House of this project is located near Darklu Village near Palampur for generation of 15 MW of Power. The Project lies within latitude 32°05'N and 32°15'N and Longitude 76°30"E and 76°40'E.

As per the current regulations of the pollution control board, 15% of the lean discharge of the river is to be allowed to flow at all times. The lean discharge is to be measured by a discharge measurement system online.

Ogee Weir

An Ogee weir across Neugal Khad to divert a maximum discharge of 5.52 Cumecs.

Desilting Tank

A Desilting tank located just downstream of the Intake Structure for sediment removal.

Head Race Tunnel

3.178 km Long Head Race Tunnel (2.25M x 2.25M D-shaped) to carry design discharge of 4.6 Cumecs.

Surface Penstock

A surface Penstock 1.30 mtr dia, 664 mtr long feeding a surface power house operating under a net head of ±398 mtr.

33 KV Switch-yard

An outdoor 33 KV Switch-yard together with a 12 km long transmission line wheeling power to HPSEB at Dehan (Palampur).

Environmental Compliance

As per pollution control regulations, 15% of lean discharge is allowed to flow at all times, measured by online discharge system.
